Sinopsis singkat

Sang Buddha mengunjungi pengembara Poṭṭhapāda di taman Mallikā dan menjawab pertanyaannya tentang bagaimana penghentian persepsi terjadi. Buddha menjelaskan bahwa persepsi muncul dan lenyap karena sebab, dan melalui latihan bertahap hingga mencapai puncak persepsi. Percakapan kemudian beralih ke pertanyaan-pertanyaan metafisik yang tidak dijawab Buddha, dan diakhiri dengan penjelasan tentang tiga jenis kelahiran kembali serta penggunaan bahasa duniawi tanpa melekat padanya.
