dn2:84.1 Suppose there was a beryl gem that was naturally lustrous, eight-faceted, well-worked, transparent, clear, and unclouded, endowed with all good qualities.
dn2:84.2 And it was strung with a thread of blue, yellow, red, white, or golden brown.
dn2:84.3 And a person with clear eyes were to take it in their hand and examine it:
dn2:84.4 ‘This beryl gem is naturally lustrous, eight-faceted, well-worked, transparent, clear, and unclouded, endowed with all good qualities.
dn2:84.5 And it’s strung with a thread of blue, yellow, red, white, or golden brown.’
dn2:84.6 In the same way, when their mind has become immersed in samādhi like this—purified, bright, flawless, rid of corruptions, pliable, workable, steady, and imperturbable—they project it and extend it toward knowledge and vision.
dn2:84.10 This too, Great King, is a fruit of the ascetic life that’s apparent in the present life which is better and finer than the former ones.
