dn20:3.1 Then, as easily as a strong person would extend or contract their arm, they vanished from the Pure Abodes and reappeared in front of the Buddha.
dn20:3.2 They bowed to the Buddha and stood to one side.
dn20:3.3 Standing to one side, one deity spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
dn20:3.4 “There’s a great congregation in the woods,
dn20:3.5 where heavenly hosts have assembled.
dn20:3.6 We’ve come to this righteous congregation
dn20:3.7 to see the invincible Saṅgha!”
dn20:3.8 Then another deity spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
dn20:3.9 “The mendicants there are immersed in samādhi,
dn20:3.10 they’ve straightened their own minds.
dn20:3.11 Like a charioteer holding the reins,
dn20:3.12 the astute ones protect their senses.”
dn20:3.13 Then another deity spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
dn20:3.14 “They snapped the post and snapped the cross-bar,
dn20:3.15 unstirred, they tore out Indra’s pillar.
dn20:3.16 They live pure and immaculate,
dn20:3.17 the young giants tamed by the Clear-eyed One.”
dn20:3.18 Then another deity spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
dn20:3.19 “Anyone who has gone to the Buddha for refuge
dn20:3.20 won’t go to a plane of loss.
dn20:3.21 After giving up this human body,
dn20:3.22 they swell the heavenly host.”
