an8.23:1.1 At one time the Buddha was staying near Āḷavī, at Āḷavī’s premier shrine.
an8.23:1.2 There the Buddha addressed the mendicants:
an8.23:1.3 “Mendicants, you should remember the householder Hatthaka of Āḷavī as someone who has seven amazing and incredible qualities.
an8.23:1.4 What seven?
an8.23:1.5 He’s faithful,
an8.23:1.6 ethical,
an8.23:1.7 conscientious,
an8.23:1.8 prudent,
an8.23:1.9 learned,
an8.23:1.10 generous,
an8.23:1.11 and wise.
an8.23:1.12 You should remember the householder Hatthaka of Āḷavī as someone who possesses these seven amazing and incredible qualities.”
an8.23:1.13 That is what the Buddha said.
an8.23:1.14 When he had spoken, the Holy One rose from his seat and entered his dwelling.
