Sinopsis singkat

Dalam khotbah ini, Sang Buddha menjelaskan bahwa ketagihan terhadap kelangsungan hidup (bhavataṇhā) tidak memiliki awal yang dapat diketahui, namun memiliki kondisi yang jelas. Beliau memaparkan rantai sebab-akibat yang berawal dari pergaulan dengan orang yang bukan orang baik, yang mengarah pada ketidaktahuan dan akhirnya ketagihan. Sebaliknya, pergaulan dengan orang baik memicu rantai positif yang berpuncak pada pengetahuan dan kebebasan. Ajaran ini diilustrasikan dengan perumpamaan hujan yang mengalir dari puncak gunung hingga memenuhi samudra.
