sn35.239:4.3 In the first watch of the night, they continue to practice walking and sitting meditation.
sn35.239:4.4 In the middle watch, they lie down in the lion’s posture—on the right side, placing one foot on top of the other—mindful and aware, and focused on the time of getting up.
sn35.239:4.5 In the last watch, they get up and continue to practice walking and sitting meditation, purifying their mind from obstacles.
sn35.239:4.6 This is how a mendicant is committed to wakefulness.
sn35.239:4.7 When a mendicant possesses these three qualities they’re full of joy and happiness in this very life, and they have laid the groundwork for ending the defilements.”
