Seyyathāpi mahāsamuddavego,
Bagaikan gelombang samudra raya,
Like a wave in the mighty ocean,

Evaṁ jātijarātivattate taṁ;
Demikianlah kelahiran dan usia tua melandamu;
rebirth and old age sweep you under.

So karohi sudīpamattano tvaṁ,
Maka jadikanlah dirimu pulau yang aman,
Make a safe island of yourself,
thag6.7:2.4
Na hi tāṇaṁ tava vijjateva aññaṁ.
Sebab tiada perlindungan lain bagimu.
for you have no other shelter.
