Evaṁ vutte, aggikabhāradvājo brāhmaṇo bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:
Setelah mendengar perkataan itu, brahmana Aggikabhāradvāja berkata kepada Bhagavā:
When he had spoken, the brahmin Bhāradvāja the Fire-Worshiper said to the Buddha,

upāsakaṁ maṁ bhavaṁ gotamo dhāretu ajjatagge pāṇupetaṁ saraṇaṁ gatan”ti.
Mulai hari ini, sudilah Guru Gotama mengingatku sebagai umat awam yang telah berlindung seumur hidup.”
From this day forth, may the worthy Gotama remember me as a lay follower who has gone for refuge for life.”
